First edition, quarto, a translation (with names of the characters changed) of part of François de Vernassal's French version of the anonymous Spanish romance, Primaleon, itself a continuation of the anonymous Palmerin de Oliva, possibly translated into English by Anthony Munday, but having no connection to the work Celestina by Rojas; lacking the first two leaves (title and dedication), both provided in facsimile, bound in full red morocco by Hembra; X3 & Dd3 torn and repaired without loss; 7 x 5 in.

STC 4910; ESTC S122496 locating two copies in U.S. libraries, at the Folger & Huntington; the present is only one of five known copies, purchased from Quaritch; no copies in the auction record.
